Condition

In generally good condition. This work has been mounted on canvas to "heal" two tears in the lower left side of the canvas and now presents very well with no evidence of tears., Sold rolled on canvas.

Provenance: Aquired from a European castle in the 60s.
Note: Nowak was noted for his paintings of musicians, especially Frans Schubert, a composer who has, more than any other musician, fueled the imagination of painters, authors, playwrights and film directors. This is a very rare large canvas of the subject by this artist, perhaps his major work on the artist..
